A new, budget-friendly iPhone SE 4 may be launching earlier than anticipated, possibly as soon as March 2025. This news comes as Apple’s camera partner, LG Innotek, reportedly begins mass production of the device’s camera this December. Historically, camera components are typically produced about three months prior to a smartphone’s release, making a March launch seem plausible.
The last iPhone SE model was released nearly two years ago, leading many to wonder when this popular budget option would return. Previous speculations suggested that it might debut before the Lunar New Year, with March being the more likely timeframe, as all prior iPhone SE models have been released in March.
The anticipated iPhone SE 4 is expected to bring significant upgrades, including a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, up from the 4.7-inch screen of its predecessor. This change is primarily due to the removal of the home button, which will also pave the way for Face ID technology, replacing the older Touch ID.
Another notable shift is the transition from Lightning to USB Type-C charging, complying with recent EU regulations. While the price is expected to rise slightly, moving from around $430 for the iPhone SE 3 to just under $500 for the new model, this aligns with current inflation trends and increased production costs.
In terms of camera capabilities, the SE 4 is rumored to feature a 48MP rear camera, a significant upgrade from the 12MP camera found in the SE 3. This single-lens setup is expected to enhance photography, particularly in low-light conditions. Additionally, the new model may include Apple’s advanced AI features, currently available only on the latest high-end iPhones.
