Former President Donald Trump has called for the prosecution of Rep. Nancy Pelosi regarding her husband Paul Pelosi’s Visa stock trades. Paul sold 2,000 shares, valued between $500,000 and $1 million, just before the Department of Justice announced a lawsuit against Visa. Trump suggested Nancy Pelosi might have known about the lawsuit and informed her husband.
The stock sale occurred on July 1, months before Visa faced antitrust charges. At the time, there was no public indication of the lawsuit. Visa shares dropped 5.5% after the announcement.
A spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi stated she does not own stocks and was not involved in her husband’s transactions. This situation has fueled discussions about insider information and stock trading by members of Congress.
